Hello to all. We are military family stationed overseas at the time being and we are starting the paperwork to get on that Exceptional Family Member Program and than be PCS'D back to the states so my daughter can have the medical she needs. So i was just wondering if anybody has any info on this program and what all it entails. Seems like evreybody we talk to only knows their part. We were just wondering hoe long it would take to get a new base and how they figure out where we will be going. I guess we are just anxious. Plus we have a 4 year old son who will be starting preschool. Thanks in advance for any info or help or words of encouragement.

Thanks Renee

thanks so much for everything. totally understand on being busy. I have been going a mile a minute it seems like for the past 2 months. trying to get everything done for what we need. Praying we get orders soon to get back to the states sooner than later. but we all know how that goes with paperwork. I wonder what this world would be like with no paperwork. Everything has to have paperwork that uually gets lost from point a to point b to point c. ugg ok i am over it. ill stop bitching.lol but thanks for listening.sometimes it good to talk with somebody that knows what u are going thru sorta and been in a similar situation.so thanks a million

Hi renee, i apoligize for taking so long to get back with you. im still working on some things for you. a friend of mine told me about a website that you can go on. and wouldnt you know it i wrote it down and one of my kids got a hold of it and decided to play paper shredder with it.lol. so right now the only thing that i can suggest that you do is to give tricare a call and see if they can tell you about any bases with your hubbys mos and if there is sufficient medical care for your daughter there. i can def. understand about being stressed and all the paperwork and having kids.i have so much paper work here not only from me being in the army but my husband switching over from the navy to the army and trying to get everything done for my sons medical care. i had to fight for 2 yrs to get him the care that he needed. its hard to be far away from family especially for families like yours who have special needs children and sometimes having family close by can be a blessing because they can give you the emotional support that you need when your hubby is away.they can give you breaks when you need it. believe me i was someone who thought that i could do it all while my husband was deployed and when i came home for a visit i realized how much i missed taking a break from things and how relaxed i was when it was time for me to go home.well i should be going now. i am keeping my fingers crossed for you all and praying for all of you and our troops stationed all over the world.

Hey Tanya

Thanks so much any help would be great. I think we are finally getting somewhere with the paperwork. We are gonna fax everything tonight and see if it gets pinged back to us. The way we understand it they will have to find a base that has hubbys job plus the medical she will need. For everything else we are still clueless. It is so aggravating because it seems like everybody only knows their part in it. We have gotten the paperwork pinged back to us a couple of times and it is so grrrr. But we shall see fingeres crossed and big ole pray that we finally have it. I am just so stressed trying to get us out of here dealing with a 4 year old active little boy and daughter that keeps having seizures and the doctors here are good but clueless as to what to do with her. Plus with a hubby who works all the time and far away from my family. Its just hard. But hopefully soon we will be back and she will have the care she needs and my son will be in the things he needs all will be well. If it was only that simple right. lol But i can say my hubby's squadron has been so wonderful and so helpful i can only hope for his next one will be as wonderful as this one. ok thanks again.

hello renee, glad to have you on board with us. i dont know to much about the efmp. when i was in the military there wasnt really anything for families that had special needs children at the time. that was almost 7 yrs ago. this is something that is fairly new to me. if youd like i can try and find out as much info as possible and get back to you as soon as possible. as far as getting a new base it could be quick. the way they used to get transfers when i was in was you or xo had to call around to bases to see if they had any openings for your rank/mos.whatever base had an opening for your mos is where you went.im not really sure how they are doing it now. i could ask my husband who is still in the military if its ok with you.well i should be going now. dont worry everything is gonna work out. i will try and get back with you as soon as i get some info for you. take care and have a wonderful day.
