I just joined the group and thought I would post our experience and ask a few questions. My little girl is 7 mos old and has just been diagnosed with gastroparesis. At about 5 mos she had an upper GI tract test performed which showed that she has acid reflux. She started taking omeprazole for that (she had been on many other acid reflux meds before this one). The GI specialist stated that he thought she was allergic to milk/soy and she was placed on Elecare formula. He did not run any allergy tests at this point and said that they could not till 1 yr old. Not really sure about this. The new formula did not seem to help much at all - she just vomits so much and all day long no matter when she eats. It is projectile and just miserable for us all. The GI specialist ordered a stomach emptying scan last week in which came back abnormal and her stomach had only emptied 27% after an hour. She has been placed on erithromycin (0.8 ml 3xday) in hopes that this will help her stomach to contract. I'm not thrilled about her being on this antibiotic but we are trying it for 2 weeks to see if it will help - we need some relief! She is a tiny thing and probably about 16 lbs and in the 12%. She is eating some solids, not too much b/c she only drinks about 20 oz of formula a day. But she does manage to get in 2 Tblsp of cereal twice a day and about 2 Tblsp of baby food twice a day (pears, squash, peas). This is the only new food that we have tried and I'm not trying to introduce anything new at this point. So - any suggestions? Is this something that she may outgrow? Are there baby foods that I should try with her that would be better for her to digest?

My son was diagnosed at 9wks old. He's 1 since Dec, & has for the most part, grown out of it. Granted, just like anybody else, he had his good days & bad. On his bad days I have to strip him down & put him in the tub (in warm water & let him play with his tub toys). Sounds cruel, but it's easy clean up & keeps vomit laundry to a minimum.
