There is a thing (toy) called a peek-a-boo bag. It's like a pillow with a window. Inside it you can put anything like coins, blocks, old keys, pencils, clothes pins and so on. Then fill it up with rice or beans. That way they can shake it up and find different things every time. Ask them how many blues they can find and or how many keys can you find. But besides that Krista said some really good ideas.

Have them find colors along the road. Stop signs are red, that kind of thing. Paper and crayons work everytime. My 4 yr old loves tic-tac-toe. Books work for us too. If you are worried about them eating crayons or something, you can use colored pencils, or the Color Wonder markers that don't mark on anything else. My kids also love pipe cleaners. I found a website with great ideas. Momsminivan.com. Good luck and have a great vacation.
