I am of Finnish desent and would love to teach my children more Finnish as well as learning myself. Any ideas? And would also love to learn more about the customs and traditions and things that children do there.

Hi Jamie,

Do you still have family/relatives in Finland? Do you speak any Finnish? Look for a Finnish tutor, or maybe there are kids who speaks Finnish where you live, and your kids can have playdates with them? Or a Finnish speaking nanny, if that's possible.

Have you been to Finland? If not, you've to. People in Finland can at first be hard to get to know, but when you finally know them, you'll have friends for life. They are one of the most friendly people I know. ;-) Make sure to visit Finland during July-Aug if you want to experience bright nights and warmer weather.

If you want to find out more about the customs and traditions, search for Finnish organizations in you area.

Good Luck,

I'm glad I'm not the only non finnish speaking person on here!!  I hope someone responds to you.  My Grandfather was from Finland and we are very proud of our heritage, especially when there are so few Fins here in the states!
