As the mother of three who lived most of her life struggling with drug addiction and alcoholism, I feel that it is necessary for moms that are in recovery to reach out to other moms who are trying for the same sucesses. I have three and a half years sobriety and life has been wonderful. I just want to help others do the same.

Hello, my name is Charity. Struggling with addiction for 25 years, lost 2 children to adoption and my husband died, overdosed. God has blessed me with my youngest daughter, 2. I started suboxone again a few days back and the shame and guilt although present, are hiccups compared to my daughters father still shooting up pretty much in front of me. My daughter is my world, my devotion. Can't stop crying and I'm so hurt from his disrespect. He's out of his suboxone already from exchange now demanding mine. I'm holding strong, this is my daughter's life, her medication so she can have mommy. I will not give in at this point, but his mental emotional abuse is ruining my last chance. I am grateful and rejoicing yet he takes it and stomps it as often as he sees me. We live together. Help and prayer for strength. I won't let my daughter lose her mommy again.

well, 6 months sounds like a mighty long time to me, i actually had a very bad amphetamine addiction & unfortunately i got a pregnancy test that was positive(when the week before i was high for 7 whole days - no food, no sleep) i quit cold turkey the day i found out, i am only 6 weeks along, clean for 4 weeks. i just cry EVERY night, and pray that my baby will be born healthy. you guys know what addiction is like, please pray for me too. and i STILL get the drug urge-but i think about the baby& it has kept me clean so far. i really hope i can stay clean after the pregnancy too(what a better reason to be done once& for all?)

I am so sorry to hear about the loss of your husband. I am also sorry that it has taken so long for me to get back to you. I can't imagine what it would be like to lose a spouse. I had a hard enough time dealing with the loss of my brother and brother in law. Six months is a great big deal! The first year is truly the hardest. Just always remember what you are giving your children everyday. They must be having a hard time dealing with the loss of a parent. I imagine that they were also scared of losing you, as well, in the beginning. You are giving them the peace of mind that mom will be around for a long time. Welcome to Moms in Recovery. We all need to stick together and help one another. I am here if you ever need to talk. Please invite me to be a friend and then we can chat anytime. I go onto my FaceBook page at least three times a week. I hope to talk to you soon.

Hey Nicole-- I too know what it is like to struggle with drugs and alcohol addiction. I am a recent widow left with two children. I will have 6 months of sobriety on April the 27th. I know that is not very long, but to be honest that is the longest I have been sober in a very long time. Anyway I'm glad to be part of the group.

Hello. My name is Shannon. I too know what it's like to try to overcome addiction. I have almost 5 months sobriety and it's been a struggle. I just lost my husband 7 months ago due to his drinking of many many yrs. his liver finally shut down. it was unexpected. No signs or syptoms. He left behind his 2 children. Our daughter is 14 and our son just turned 11. I chose to get sober about 2 months after he passed away. It has been rough for me trying to deal with everything sober but I have done it so far. I'm glad to join this group.
