Just curious to see what an "average" 4 or 5 month weighs. My son was born at 10lbs and has been steadily gaining every since. He is now 20+ lbs and I was wondering how other babies his age weighed in.

My daughter was born at 34 weeks being 7lbs 2oz & 20in long, she is now 5 months 2 weeks old and she just went to the Dr today and she is 18lbs 6.8oz and 27in long. Her Dr said that her weight is normal and that they will lose most of there weight when starting to walk...

My son was 9lbs 14 oz at birth. He weighed in at 20lbs at his 4 month checkup. And, because of his length he is about average on weight. So it depends on their length as well. Sounda like he is doing great.

I was told by my dr that they should double their birth weight by 6 months. But all babies grow at different rates! My son was 10.6 at birth, He's almost 13 months now and close to 27lbs. He's tall and healthy!

My son was born at 9 lbs 5 oz and at 4 months he weighed about 13 lbs and some oz (i'm not sure exactly how many ounces). If your doctor isn't worried then don't worry. It depends on alot of things like genetics, activity level, and height. Generally your child has a general pattern of growth. If he is consistenyl gaining 3 lbs a month then that is normal for him. If it suddenyl drops or increases significantly that is when you worry

I totally get this experience. My daughter was born 9 lbs 7 onz. She's 15 mo now and weighs about 32 lbs. Your doctor will chart your childs weight and my doctor told me as long as it's not substantial weigh gain children usually level out withthe average. Once your baby starts crawling and walking you'll see the difference . My daughter didn't have a neck for the longest time she was just a roll of dough

My daughter Amaya is 4 months old and weighs almost 16 pounds and is 26 inches long. She was 8.5 lbs and 21.5 inches when she was born. Every baby is different, and gain differently depending on their birth weight and how much they eat. Your baby sounds very healthy! If you're concerned though, just talk to your pedi about it. =)

Every child is different. My son was born at 7lbs~He is now 18 months and last week he weighed 19lbs 6oz! He is tiny!! I wouldn't worry too much about it, when he starts running around he'll prob even out!

That is one healthy baby. Squeeze him for me. He will loose that weight once he starts crawling and walking. Enjoy the rolls and smooshy baby.

my son was 7lbs 9oz at bith and at his first appt 5 days after birth he was over 10lbs. At four months he was 16lbs 4ozs. he is now 7 months and 20lbs 10oz and 28 inches long so he's very tall for his age. I thought he was gonna be overweight but he's fine. My daughter on the other hand was 5lbs 13oz and by the time she was four months she weight 12lbs so every kid is different.

My sons last Doctors appoint he was 4months old exactly..anyways he weight 17 pounds but my doctor told me he was in the 80th percentle..Meaning that he was a little bit over weight..Anyways my doctor said no to worry about it because they are just babies only really worry about their weight when they get older :)

It sounds like he's gaining the weight he should be gaining especially since he started out 10 lbs. My daughter was 8lbs 2ounces when she was born. She hit about 25 lbs when she was 6 months old and now that she's crawling and standing she dropped down to 22lbs.

My baby was born at 6 lbs and 12 oz (so not very big) and he is now 4 months and 1 week old and weighing over 17 lbs. He is breastfed and I read that breastfed babies sometimes grow much faster in the first few months than formula-fed babies. As long as you're nursing, he's okay; if he's getting formula, I'd ask the pediatrician about a healthy weight gain. It sounds very normal to me though. Ever baby gains at a different rate!

There is no "right" weight for a 4 1/2 month old baby. They are all born with different weights, some are bottle fed, some are breast fed. They will all be so very different. If you are worried about his weight check with your Dr next time - but if he is doing everything that a normal 4 1/2 month old should do then I wouldn't be concerned.

I don't know what the average weight is for a 4 1/2 month old but I suggest you ask the pediatrician at your next visit. I think at that age they look at a growth chart each visit to make sure they are gaining the right amount. Also, the average weight for a baby born at 10 lbs will be different than a baby born at 6 lbs. I had big babies and was pressured by family to start cereal at an early age and solids too early. I resisted and still had big babies but not nearly as big as they would have been if I'd given them food as early as family wanted. Talk with the dr. about this the next time your in.
