Anxiety & Sleep/Seperation Issues

I have an 8 year old son who is having MAJOR issues with going to bed/sleep. Has anxiety and works himself into a mess. Crying and up and down -up and down. Sometimes for 2 or 3 hours. Any suggestions? We have moved in the past month and he has recently started staying over nights at his Dad's house. So I realize there is going to be some adjustment. But it seems to be getting worse instead of better. His bedroom is right next to mine. His dog sleeps with him. He has a rechargeable flash light and night light. I have tried being sympathec but he seems to feed off that and it makes it worse. I have tried ignoring it and him when he gets up. I have tried taking away privelages. He says he is afraid he isn't going to see me again. I don't know where all of this comes from. Very concerned.

My son had anxiety and trouble sleeping when he knows he is about to go to his dads for the night so he does mostly day visits and the decision to stay is made by him, that seems to help him giving him the control.
