Introduction

Hi, I am a parent to my 3 kids that are 21, 19, and 16 years old and a foster parent to a wonderful little boy who is blind because of bilateral retinoblastoma. He has been in our care since he was 10 months old and he is now 3 years old. We are in the process of adopting him. We have recently been blessed with another foster son that is 16 years old and he is legally blind with low vision and light sensitivity. I am looking forward to meeting other families and learning from their experiences and sharing our experiences that may benefit others :) Tammy

Hi Everyone, Glad you are here. I am visually impaired and legally blind. I want to give support to all of you.

Hi Tammy, welcome to this site. Have you been in touch with the resources for children who are blind in your community? Let me know if you need some help or input there. Also, have you joined FamilyConnect? That is a wonderful resource, too. My son is 17 and he has a retinal degeneration called Leber's Congenital Amaurosis. I have photos of him posted here. I am so glad that you joined.

Hi Tammy! Wow, you have kids in a variety of ages and stages!

Is your 16 year old foster son able to read large print, or braille, or both?

Joy
