Acid Reflux Baby

[deleted account] ( 6 moms have responded )

I've got a 2 month old baby boy (17 pounds) who suffers from silent acid reflux. He is currently taking 30MG of Prevacid once daily. We've tried a large variety of different formals - from Soy to Sensitive types. It seems that his reflux is getting worse (not better) as he gets older. His biggest problem is congestion that seems to choke him frequently and doesn't allow him to rest comfortably. We keep him elevated up to an hour after eating and try to feed less formula more often so as not to over feed. I'm looking for others that have or are experiencing this problem to let me know if something has worked for you??? I get a little nervous about his choking / clearing his throat constantly. My pediatrician continues to say it is normal infant congestion......

Babies magic tea made feedings easier to get through...LO was had reflux and would struggle even during feedings. With this tea, LO was able to down bottle of breast milk with little to no pain.

My daughter is 2 1/2 months old and my husband and I currently have the same problem with her. As you said, the old she gets the worse her reflux gets. We've tried all the same methods and she still chokes and gags. It's very scary. Especially when they are sleeping and doing it. I'm constantly nervous my daughter is going to do it while I'm sleeping. My doctor recently started us on Prevacid and told us if that doesn't work than the next step would be to see a specialist. I hope he gets better. From one mom to another I know how horrible it is. Especially when they have crying fits and there's nothing you can do but wait it out.

Speaking from experience.. most reflux babies have a milk, soy protein intolerance. We ended up on a hypoallergenic formula. You might want to try Allimentum or Nutramigen.

They also make a formula called Enfamile Aplus Thickened the only formula that worked for us!

I suggest you try a formula that does not have Life's DHA by Martek. It's nearly imposible to find one now a days but I suggest you try that. My son suffered from reflux and also choked and once I switched him to an organic formula that did not use Martek's DHA ... problem was resolved in 24hr or less. I've not had to use medicine or struggle with reflux ever since. Maybe it's something worth trying. I have several friends whose babies also suffered from reflux and we are all using the same formula now and couldn't be happier. Good Luck! Feel free to contact me if you would like more info.
