19 year daughter break up

201 My 19 year old daughter dated the same boy for 3 years. He joined the Marine Corp and left. She had a difficult time with his decision to leave and she feels she should have consulted by him before joining. He proposed to her in October. They broke the engagement about a month later. I am wondering if anyone else has felt so consumed with emotions and grief over something concerning their child as I have. I hate watching here hurt as any other mom would. She says she wants him back but I don't think he wants that. It's awfully painful seeing her so desperate. Any thoughts, similar experiences or advice. Thanks in advance.

AS her Mom it is your role to protect her- but we can't- Be there for her and help her- growth is sometimes painful- it is helpful to be a sounding board and a voice of sanity- you know what heart break is like and you know your daughter- you can help- it doesn't sound like the relationship is worth it but when you are 19 don't tell her so- she might get stuck in being stubborn- most important is prayer for her and guide her -the Psalms are good motivators for anybody- Many Blessings
