Ladies I just found out my baby has Gerd don't know much about this condition and feel overwhelmed at times... baby. Is so fussy and crying constantly I tried changing formula to Ar infamil per doctors request and that just made things worse . So I went back to gentlese and added rice cereal - I am so sad and crying all the time to see my little one in pain - is there hope??? Will this get better?

I also use the IRD message board. It has been a wonderful support system. I've been using it since my son was hospitalized with an ALTE at 8 days old. They told me it was reflux. I couldn't believe that "something that keeps old folks up at night" had almost killed my newborn son! The moms at IRD were there for me from the beginning! My DS is now 17 months old, but I still frequent the board to offer hope and support to other moms faced with raising a reflux baby. Highly recommended!!

There is also a book written by the owner of this website called "life on the reflux roller coaster" (author Roni Maclean) - can highly recommend this for any parent who has a GERD baby - it puts a few things in perspective! - contains other useful links!

My daughter Emma was born in Feb 2007 with severe reflux and was in ICU for a month before she came home as she developed an aversion to the bottle almost immediately after vomiting after each feed. She came home with a g-tube feeding tube inserted it was the most traumatic day of my life. In November 2007 the vomiting gradually became less and we persisted with the bottle even if it was 20 - 30mls orally and the rest by tube. She also took to her solids really well! Gradually when she was about 10 months old the vomiting all but stopped and she started drinking more from her bottle. The tube was removed in February 2008 - 10 days before her first birthday! She now eats and drinks like a horse! However she still only weighs 10kgs as she hardly gained any weight the first 7 months or so!! There is hope mums - hang in there it DOES get better eventually!
