Mine is in August as well, with it being so hot we opted for a mermaids and pirates party. For party favors we are doing mermaid and pirate towels. For lunch it's gold fish, blue jello with red sweedish fish candy in side, mac n cheese (with fish shaped pasta) Shrimp cocktail (for the adults), The cake has a pirates ship with lil mermaids coming out of the water.Water + cake= fun fun fun

You could ask her to plan her own party I have done this when out of ideas. I let them plan what food to have and what games to play who to invite, I take them and let them pick out the decorations and cake and everything. They enjoy doing it and even when things don't match or don't make sence they don't care. Really they are just happy haveing some friends over and running around and playing... Last year for my 4 year old she had a costume party she loved it everyone else did too (she is born in October but a costume party is good any time I think)

Does she like animals? I LOVED animals when I was little and every birthday was different animal themed. If she likes horses or some individual animal or butterflies. One year I would have jungle and another forest and things like that, but I was a tom-boy. If she is girly think of things she likes, a favorite show, animal, toy. Good luck!

How about A Alice in Wonderland birthday you can have tea pots random ones from friends and borrow tea cups from friends tie little card stock on the handle and write on it "Drink ME", And make some cookie and write on the "Eat ME" Put some different plants around to decorate and linen on your table mix N match everything!!! You could make a cake in the shape of a card Queen of hearts! and get all the girls to dress up & Boys if your making a craft they could make wacky hats like the mad hatters. and if its and all girls party you could make loot bags with long satin gloves, beads, bubbles, gily stuff maybe even a mini tea set(all bought at the dollar stores) Instead of getting helium balloons just blow up regular balloons and hang them from the ceilling and only have a few helium ones make it all Alison in wonderland like and you could go as far as tie card stock around the bubble as table favours that say Blow me on them. And serve up fancy little finger sandwiches and finger foods like at a tea party but fun & colourful stuff. I was going to do this for my daughters party but she just told me she wanted a Hello Kitty party now! All the best I have loads more too! I love planning parties tell me what your little girl likes and I'm sure I could help you out with some great ideas and tips!!!

One of the best birthday parties I ever threw was a "Circus" party for my then 5 yr old daug. The cake was a cake to resemble a carasol. I used a lg. round cake pan for the bottom, baked some cookies in the shapes of animals, and used a piece of cardboard i cut to resemble the top. Let ur imagination go wild in the decoration of your cake. Made upside down icecream cones and decorated them with candy to make them look like clown heads. I had a lot of games that children her age would know the hokey pokey, musical chairs, hot potato etc. But the main topper was when i came out in a clown outfit. The look on my baby girls face was priceless! Good Luck!

does she like alice in wonderland? or does she have a favorite character from a show? a hawaiian thing might be fun, or if she has a favorite book/story.

A flower theme might be fun. I don't know if you're crafty and this is kinda hippie-ish but you could tie dye shirts (it's not as messy as it sounds and can be done outside). You could get some chalk and have flower drawings on the sidewalk or in the driveway. Make flower baskets and paper flowers or pick flowers. Or just have her pick a color and do the theme that way. Maybe do an animal theme.

What about a party at one of those Bounce places? Or are you looking to do something at your house? The dance party is also a great idea!

How about a "Dance" Themed Party? My DD is also 4 and loves to dance so we'll prob do this next year.
