I can't for the life of me get my son to eat veggies. He is 3. He eats them for my sitter 3 days a week. He has been told he has low iron and trying to give a prescription form of it does not work either because he can taste it. I have tried to hide in food he likes, put cheese on them. Everything. No luck. Anyone out there have any suggestions?

Try a little grazing tray I still do it for my picky and slow 6 year old. You can use a plastic plate or even a muffin pan and just put little snacks like baby carrots, strawberries, sliced cucumbers, cheerios, pretzels, cheese cubes. Maybe he will not touch them but maybe he will try as he watched tv. Do not make him feel pressured but just say eat what you can and see what happens over time.

I have cubes of frozen spinach in the freezer and I puree the crap out of it and put it in the tomato sauce for spaghetti. Spinach is a great source of iron. It makes the sauce darker, but my kid doesn't seem to notice. Muffins are good - addd zucchini, carrots, pumpkin etc. I also have dried food from "Nurtureme", they are freeze dried so they do not loose nutrients .... put a package of the carrot, sweet potato or squash into the macaroni and my 3 year old does not notice.

Also offer a veggie at meals, but no pressure to eat it. If you are having the same thing and he sees you eating it, eventually he will try it. 2-3 year olds are at the height of picky eating, this is one area of their life that they can exert control. The more we push, the more they rebel. Any books by Ellyn Satter have been a huge help in our family to avoid struggles over food.

I can only get my son to eat green beans and corn sometimes, I give him cheerios and other breakfast cereals cause they have a good amount of iron, that is how I got his iron up, good luck, my son is 3 too and they are just really picky at this age
