my son was born at 24 weeks. he has come along way-he is now 15 mths 12 adjusted. i have been trying to switch to a sippy cup and table food for several weeks. he will not hold his bottle and therefore will hold cup to play with but will not drink from. ive tried several diff nipple types and techniques to persuade hime to try it but he just throws a fit. my ped says as long as he can bring his hands to middle for toys not to worry but i cant feed him a bottle forever. please help.

My little girl was born at 35 Weeks she is now 13 Months 1 Week 12 Months adjusted I too struggled with a Sippy Cup my little girl would not have a barr of it we tried different nipple types still no joy so we tried her on a cup with a straw she just loves it and feels independent now taking it upon herself with getting herself a drink we give her just about everything we eat now when it comes to food just in bite sizes she makes a hell of a mess when eating but its just fine with us we still have to help her out with mashed potatoes which is fun as we are slowly trying to get her to feed herself with a fork so keep trying different things no doubt you will come acoss something that suits your little one

not sure wat type of cup u hav for u son but i am also tryin to give my 10mnth old (corrected almost 7mnths) juice in a sippy cup which she trys to drink from but doesnt realise yet that she needs to suck from it to get the juice out lol on the other hand she does with another cup she has where the nib looks a bit more n feels a bit mre like a teat of the bottle (so cute watching her) basically what im tryin to say is... ur son may not drink from it because it looks so different from a bottle... he may jus want to explore it as a new object/toy 1st... as kylie said try showing him by puttin it to ur own mouth or maybe look for 1 a little bit more similar to the bottles he i used to using... he will get there soon dont stress

Keep offering the cup, and try not to get stressed about it, little boys are very clever, and if they see your getting stressed they know what buttons to push (my little Joseph is the same)

I would just keep giving the cup, let him play with it. Perhaps buy yourself the same cup and drink in front of him, so he gets the hang of it. Make it a game, and give loads of praise when he copies you.
