I feel horrible that it has taken so long (he is 8) but I belive that my oldest might have spd, I have made him an appointment at the pediatrician so I can get a prescription for an ot to evaluate him, but I have read several places where people have recommended having a child evaluated by their school district. This would be much better for our family because although we are blessed to have health insurance my copay for the ot will be $75.00 and that is PER session, so if the ot wants us to come back for further sessions we will have to pay that each time, we simply cant afford it. Can someone please give me some guidence as to who I contact to find out if our school district even does evals for spd?
Thanks in advance

I would start by talking to the person in charge of special education at your school. They have been a great place for me to start with all my questions. Our schools special ed has been great although they outsource OT so we have still had to get that elsewhere.

Also, we have copays but we dont have them for his OT because they are billed as therapies and not as appts. Just something to check into. I just saw a thing on the news the other night to get a grant for medical expenses as well I can try to find the site.
