How to cope with auditory over-stimulation?

I posted this on a different group & just found this one. I'm hoping to find some resources.

I'm new to finding products to help with coping skills for sensory issues & not having much luck. My 4 year old has many sensory issues, one being over-stimulation with auditory. At a restaurant lunch today, he spent most of the time with his hands over his ears. The restaurant was unusually busy & had that constant buzz of conversations. I realized about 5 minutes before my son did that the noise was bothering him & wished that there was something I could do. Then, I remembered ear pops! We need some that are not for warmth, just ones to help muffle the sound.

I've looked online & the only ones I'm finding are "bandless earmuffs". Not exactly what we're looking for. Does anybody know where or how to find some?

Ear muffs I bought my sons from the gun department at a big outdoors store they were not expensive & are childrens ones & he wears them when he needs them we always have them with us. Sometimes as well its good to have a hoodie along so you can put the hood up just to make them feel more cozy I find this works really well in big stores & malls that have lots of lights that have a humm or buzz or are just to overwhelming. My son is 4 as well

Yep, that's the problem I'm running into & my son doesn't tolerate the plugs/ear buds. I'm considering making some myself... trying to figure out how to keep them lightweight/breathable & still muffle sound. The next hurdle to overcome...

My son is like that too. One time at a sporting event someone at guest services gave us a set of ear plugs and that seemed to help. You can get those just about anywhere. I've looked for ear muffs and haven't been able to find any that fit him right.
