My almost 4 year old has been in therapy since age 2 for SPD issues (apraxia, motor planning, tactile dysfunction). Interested in getting more info for this group.

Hey, welcome! I am so glad you found the group! My children have SPD as well, Logan is more severe with apraxia, gross and fine motor and sensory seeking. This group was founded so we could find support in one another, to share burdens and helpful information. If I can help in anyway, please let me know! Again, welcome!

I agree - out of synch child is a great resource! The other one I've enjoyed is Sensational Kids my L Miller. It highlights a couple of specific children, and the routines the parents & child have put in place to help with issues....

Hello... I have a 5 yr old daughter who was diagnosed with tactile defensiveness when she was 3... looking back you can see symptoms from as early as 3 weeks old... It's amazing how little support & understanding there is for this in the traditional medical community. I've had to be tenacious & keep at it - and thank god for the internet & other parents out there - that's the only way i've ever been able to stay sane. How are things going with you??

Hi! I'm glad you're here! I'm sorry I haven't gotten a chance to get online for a bit. My son Logan was diagnosed with SPD, gross motor, severe speech delay, etc. He's just turned 3. He started OT at 22 months or so. It was so bad at the time, we thought he was Autistic, he had to be by himself and would not aknowledge you, look at you. I was scared. He still has some trouble going down stairs, he still can get hurt and not be bothered, but his receptive language has improved tremendously!!

I started the group because I felt alone. I knew a couple moms with SPD kids, but they were too busy to talk. After one too many comments about how my son "will grow out it" and "you're making a big deal out of nothing, he looks fine", I decided to start the group to see who's out there, let them know they are not alone, and to let us be able to vent our frustrations and share information and receive encouragement from one another.

I am so glad you found us! How is your 4 year old doing?
