Just wanted to give an FYI to ya if you are trying to find a preschool who is helpful with your child....Messiah Lutheran in Charlotte NC....Ms Mary, the preschool director is literally a God Send in my life. My son has been asked to leave three preschools and the NICEST way was " Your son needs to go try to be successful somewhere else." The teachers at Messiah Lutheran are.....well.....you would just have to meet them to know. I can not tell you how far out of their way they have gone for my son. It brings tears to my eyes to have such support for his learning experiences. I have been SO SO STRESSED on the fact that most kids are in preschool at 2 year old and he never made it past a few weeks until now and he is 4.5 years old. I worry that he is falling behind even though I work with him at home every day. There is more to preschool than just learning your ABC's and123's. I want him to have the social aspect of it all as well....and eventually he has to learn to be away from me.....which has been a struggle since no preschool would have him after a few weeks. If you are local and want a place where your child is appreciated exactly how is, and you have support, your child is met with love, first and foremost, they celebrate my son's success and support him with his struggles. For the first time since we started down this road with this diagnosis....I feel hopeful for my son. Also, I am SO glad to have found this group. I have so much to share....some tears to shed. I just want Mitchell have the same opportunities for learning as other children because he is bright...he just learns differently ;)

I am very happy you finally found somewhere. I am in constant fear of my son being asked to leave his preschool because they've already made it very clear that if his SPD is deemed too much of a burden for the classroom they will ask him to leave (even though he has never had a single behavior problem and had maybe 2 so so days in the last year). I'm so glad it's working out for you. I know how you feel.
