My son is 21 months old (18 corrected) Pretty sure he has SPD. He has a horrible food aversion. He still will only eat Gerber puree and only will eat crunchy things. He won't eat anything soft at all. He just started working with an Occupational therapist and a feeding specialist about 6 weeks ago. I'm really worried he will end up needing a feeding tube but I'm really hoping that isn't the case and that the therapies will help him. I was just wondering if anyone else has a kid with similar issues and hope you can share your insight/advice/stories with me please:)

Hi Sharlene! I'm so sorry you're going through this also as I know how frustrating and worrisome it can be. My son Mason is around 20 lbs. Not sure what that is in KG's though. He'll be 2 next month so on the charts he's in less than the 5 percentile. His pediatrician isn't too concerned though because he's proportional to his height. He's gotten a little better with trying new foods but the feeding therapist comes out and works with him once a week. It's tough because most Dr.s think feeding issues are behavioral when in a lot of cases they aren't. What is GDD?

Thank you for replying Rebecca. I have been giving my son pediasure for about 6 months now and he loves that too:) He's still growing and he doesn't look too skinny or anything so I'm not too concerned right now. It is super frustrating though as I'm really tired of buying baby food. It's expensive and doesn't seem all that nutritional. But at least it's something!

My son is 6 and has a very short list of very specific foods he will eat. I give him ensure and vitamins to help make up for nutritional deficiencies. It's not a perfect solution, but he loves chocolate milk and I know it's good for him. I also mix mega green powder in his Mac and Cheese (he thinks its a special cheese just for him). Otherwise I just keep trying to get him to try other foods. He will overcome this in the end, but it's frustrating in the meantime. BTW, I work with adults as a nutritionist, so I am not unaware of what he needs.
