Hi all ... My 20 month has just been diagnosed with SPD and he's hard work right now :( constantly crashing, head butting us and walls, hurling himself on floors and hard objects... He is also profoundly deaf with ANSD and cochlear implantation, making life very difficult right now - he gets very frustrated as you can imagine... Love to hear some stories from you all - all do very new to us at the moment :0(

Hi Sharlene...If anything he enjoys his head being rubbed or any kind of pressure to it in fact, rather worrying...Still awaiting OT's - how long does the referral take :O( Just want some answers now - he's such a live wire bless him... Thanks for your message - is your nine year old more manageable now - good luck to you all xx

My 9yr old use to do that when he was much younger. He has autism and hes specialist told me to put a bike helmet on his head so everytime he hanged his head on hard floors and on walls he wouldnt feel it. But does your child have sensory issues on the head or even touching the head. maybe that might help ,good luck

My daughter is also hearing impaired and SPD. She is 10 and definitely showed similar symptoms to your son when she was that age. Have you checked out the link between hearing loss and SPD / between cochlear implants and SPD?

Hugs to you - I pray that it gets better as he gets older!!

Hey sharon, Well thats great he's like that . It all depends on the referral it self. Im waiting on a report from speech of his little sister thats in early intervention for a feeding clinic, so it depends on the report and so forward, But its being more then a week or two then the OT, examined your little boy then I would phone and check. Yes my little james is very manageable he has turned out to be the most sweetest kids and helps me and his other sister with there little siblings. Alot of interevention and programes helped alot. Well take care and I hope to see you around, message me anytime if you want.take care
