weighted blanket

I am getting a weighted blanket to assist with "calming" my son down for naps at daycare. Even though my husband and I feel that our son may just being getting ready to outgrow his naps(he is 4 and in a class with 3 year year olds due his delays--not being potty trained), the OT at his preschool feels that the blanket may help calm him if he is "required" to have a quiet time. Does anyone have any experience with the blankets with their own kids?

Weighted blankets can be good for some kids, but the bigger question I would ask is why is your 4 year old being required to nap?  SPD kids have enough trouble sitting still... mine did not nap after age 2.  Under Americans with disabilities, a day care center can not keep your child in a lower age group just because of potty training.

We tried one, but my daughter didn't seem to be affected by it or care about it much. My friend's son seemed to like his. I ended up curling up under it on the couch one day and it felt sooo calming to me. I swear the more I learn about SPD I think I have it too....
