Pregnant and dating, but not the father...good or bad?

[deleted account] ( 1 mom has responded )

I am 18 years old and currently pregnant. The father and I have not been together since I was 2 months pregnant. I am talking to a guy that I dated in High School. We have been friends for 6 years and he's been there threw many ups and downs. He just recently asked me if there were any way possible that i would consider dating him again. I told him yes but that i would have to take it super slow because i had more than just myself to think about now. He really does make me very happy but i wonder if its a good idea to date a close friend, and on top of that date someone that is not the father of my child. I mean i don't ever see me and the father EVER getting back together so i know that i will be dating someone new eventually, i just don't know if i should now?! I feel as though people may think that i'm just jumping into something new with this "new guy" because i want a "baby daddy" which is not the case at all. I know that i can raise this child on my own, its just the fact that i don't want to be alone. If this "new guy" is great with kids and makes me very happy then could this be such a bad thing? HELP!!! = /

Hey Callie-
I think it is perfectly fine to be dating someone who isn't the father..ESP since you have known him for so long and he is accepting of your pregnancy. That says alot about a man who doesn't run off knowing you are pregnant. You are right that you are concerned because its not just you that you have to be concerned with, but honestly its just as important for you to be happy. In the end, you are the best judge of his character and your guys overall situation. Just be smart, and think of our baby too..but it seems like you got it all under control! :) Just because your pregnant doesn't mean you can't have a life! I mean..your not broken! :)
BTW- my name is Amanda, I am 33 weeks with my first baby and I just moved here from Orlando Fl. HUGE change!! lol. How far along are you?
