I need some discipline ideas. Just got a call from my sons school principle and he has been caught smoking weed at school and is suspended for 5 school days. I am soooo dissapointed in him :'( What to do what to do?? My son is walking home right now and I am not sure how to handle this.....Help!

OMG...I am sooo sorry to hear this. Talk to your son, let him know you are disappointed in him. Discuss the dangers, and let him know you will not tolerate such behaviour. If your son has a cell phone, take it. Remove any computer priviliges. Let him know his actions have consequences. I hope he thinks twice before doing it again. Good Luck Kim.

I am sure your son is quite embarrassed about the whole thing as he now has a reputation around of school of being a pot head. Talk to him ask him how long he has been smoking this stuff and then leave him with some imformation about the affects of weed on the body. There is no point in lecturing him what is done is done I am sure he knows how disappointed you are with him. Just lay your cards on the table and tell him that this is not acceptable and that if you find out he has done this again there will be serious consequences. We all make mistakes your son had the misfortune to make his in school!

It may have been the first time, but then again...it may not have been. You need to tell him that from here on out, he will be tested weekly. You can go to almost any pharmacy/kmart/walmart these days and get a simple drug test kit for marijuana. Usually costs about 15 bucks. They pee in the cup, and it gives you results in about 15 minutes. If it is an unsure result, you can send it in (free of charge) for the full analysis on the Mass Spectrometer, and then you call in and give your code, the company will tell you positive/negative, and what amounts of substances were found.

This may sound harsh, but my brother's son (who is the same age as my son) was caught by several parents at several different times/locations. His parents were in full disbelief, did not take any action, and he soon found himself spending a year in the boys disciplinary school, as well as being on probation with the courts. It is better to be safe than sorry in this situation. My sons are both tested monthly, even though I know that they do not use anything. Between their dad and I, we've smoked enough over the years to know the signs. Even so, they know that if their grades slip drastically, or their behavior changes, they pee in a cup. Just to be sure.
