I just found out my 17 year old daughter is pregnant by a 23 year old man. Does anyone know the legal rights I have and what if anything I can do to prosecute this man?

Well, it's up to you. Is this man still in her life? This is the baby's father, and he might want to be a father to the child (that's his call not yours) - do you want to put the father of the baby in jail over what was actually clearly consensual sex (even though age of consent is 18 - at 17 she is almost an adult and she really did know what she was doing). You can certainly report it, but at the end of the day, it won't be up to you to decide if it gets prosecuted, and in the meantime, you may lose your daughter and ruining a young man's life because of a mutual decision made by both he and your daughter.

I agree with Jodi. You can prosecute him if you want, but he is the father of your grandchild. And a conviction may make it harder for him to meet his financial obligation to his child. Unless you really feel he was preying on your daughter, that it wasn't mutual between them, then maybe you should get past the shock and hurt and try to think about what's best for the baby.

It depends on what the age of consent is where you live. In many places it is 16.
