I have a 13 year old daughter. She was diagnosed with a APD ( auditory processing disorder) in third grade. I started in eighth grad This is when she really begin to struggle in school even with her 504 plan (teachers don't really care about that Plan anyway). I had her on Adderall ( generic version) and this doesn't really seem to be helping. Vyvanse or Focaline XL. Any succes success? Side effect effects

I have a 13 year old and she has been diagnosed with ADD and is being tested for OPD.. She also really started struggling in middle school. She goes to a private school, so there is no 504 plan. But, I can relate to your saying that the teachers don't really care about the plan. I feel like her teachers only want to bother with the type A overachievers!

Anyway, as far as meds go, I had started her on Adderall last year. We tried it for almost a year but, honestly, her ADD seemed to get worse and she became more withdrawn. I recently had her changed to Concerta. She reports that she is much happier and more focused on the Concerta. Of course, other people have the exact opposite experience and are more successful on the Adderall..

I also suggest that you stay on top of her teachers. They are legally obligated to uphold the terms of the 504 plan whether they want to or not! Good luck with everything!
