Allowance for 17 year old

How much allowance should I give my 17 year old son who watches his sister usually 3 times a week for 7 hours and does household chores including dishes and cooking simple dinners. I know he would get a job if my husband and I did not need him to watch her while we are working. Any suggestions? Thanks!

Two things to consider he is family and how much you can afford. You are paying for all his living expenses, so a few chores are required (in my opinion). If you just want to give him some spending money then I would suggest 20 dollars a week if you can afford it. If you think he should get more, maybe you can start a savings account for him and put a little extra in it at times and you can give it all to him later on as huge thank you. If you are feeling bad because he would make more money at a job, you should not because he is spending time with his sister and they are building a relationship. He is learning responsibilty and the importance of family and this something that is very important. I am not sure any of this helps but I hope it does a little.

well pay him what you can afford to, I would honestly say at 17 he needs to to be working out side the house and make his own money, and the money you give him pay a nanny or some that's in college, but if he don't mind try doing those things, try asking him asking him what would be fair.
