Hi there! Wanting to know if anyone has been in my situation and what you did about it. I feel almost like I'm in middle school even asking this question. It's a little embarrassing. I have an almost 12 yr old, a 15 yr old, and a 16 yr old. I feel like I lack any real friendships. I have friends from work but they have small children and even my "best friend" is too busy for me these days.

My youngest son started playing football this year and I thought , "Great! Maybe I will make some mom friends!" Not as easy as I thought. While they are all friendly, they have been together for a while and have their own little cliques. I don't know who the moms are of the other first year players, so I can't talk to them. I try to strike up conversation but I feel like they all give me a quick, necessary response and go on their way. Even the moms of the kids that my children are friends with, I can't seem to break through the acquaintance ice.

It shouldn't make me sad, but it really does! My kids do their own thing and my husband works a lot. I feel very lonely not really fitting in anywhere. I'm not boring and I don't stink, so I don't think it's me. I just can't find my place.

Advice? Insights? Ideas? I welcome them all!.

Thank you. Catherine. We have begun (sometimes) going to a new church so maybe that's the way to go. I suppose if I make friends elsewhere, not fitting in with the football moms won't seem as important. :)

Ive had the same problem with our local mommies groups for multiples, try a church group of women they seem to be nicer. Some women just don't like outsiders and feel you will steal there friend so they cold shoulder you.
