Daughter and boyfriend broke up

My daughter broke up with her boyfriend but then changed her mind and he doesn't want to get back together now. She is heartbroken and has to see him everyday. He has also changed in that he is not the same nice boy she was dating. How do I get her to cope everyday with seeing him at school. This is her senior year and I need her to focus and have fun!

Unfortunately, Debbie, this is a good lesson for her to not make impulsive decisions. She probably hurt his feelings just as badly as she's hurting now, and he may not want to open himself up to that with her again.

And, without knowing how she chose to handle the conversation, that's probably why he's being a jerk.

Use this as a teaching moment for her, and remind her that life will not end simply because she's not with this particular guy (and use his current behaviour to reinforce that maybe this wasn't the one for her anyway).

Encourage her to involve herself in extracurriculars at school, things that he doesn't do, so she doesn't run into him, and she will eventually move on. We've all been there, and we're still around to tell the story, so you know she'll be fine once she gets over it...LOL
