My son has always struggled with anger and depression. Some years worse then others. We've seen countless dr. tried medication, however once he turned 15 he refused to inject anything chemical. I do know that he smokes pot (which seems to help allot wroth his mood, sleep and appetite) even though I haven't expressed approval to him. But still he has days that he gets so angry and depressed where the littlest thong sets him off to the point that he hates life and everything goes wrong for him. (Being that in the passed -grade school age- he has mentioned ending his life. I become high alert , but some days I think to myself am I enabling him by letting him send guilty mean messages to me I just don't know how to respond. Please help

I'm so glad to hear that the therapist did help, but totally understand how money issues can play a huge role in the decision to go back to a doctor. I know Focus on the Family has counselors you can talk to free of charge (855-382-5433). It might be worth giving them a call.

He had a great therapist that actually helps however he was private and expensive. As I said im a single mom and I carry a High Deductible insurance so I have to pay up to 6000 cash out of my pocket before my insurance kicks in and then they only cover very little in the way of mental illness coverage. It's very hard

I am so sorry to hear that you and your family are having to endure this right now. Having a child that has emotional challenges can be very hard on a family. My son had some issues a few years back with anger, acting out, and severe depression. Honestly what worked was taking him to a counselor that specialized in teenagers. She was a blessing! She was able to speak to him on a level that I never could! Today, he is very well adjusted and about to head off to college! Would counseling be something you are interested in pursuing?
