I'm a 17 year old here to help you guy's
Encourage your teen, being a teen is hard we are going through alot and it's rare people say nice things to us we always see and hear people talk about how we should look or act and what we are doing wrong
LISTEN parents are quick to jump to conclusions and get upset we are young adults and when you 6ell at us we get mad and shut you out and push you away because if you're not talking to me or listening to what I have to say then I honestly don't give a crap about what you have to say and probably won't open up to you. My mom did this to me when I tried to tell her how I felt she would say I don't want to hear it so I stayed to myself I was quite and never told anyone how I felt.
WE MAKE MISTAKES We are learning be forgiving and loving guide us talk to us
Phones !!!! I think young teens 13-15 should get there phones checked and put away at night 16 year olds are 2years away from being an adult so start treating them like one 17 and 18 if you are checking thier phone then there is a problem give them some space we all like to have some privacy. If they have done something that affects you trusting them have them prove themselves to you let them gain your trust back I understand you want to protect them etc etc but you will not be here to protect them forever let them live and learn depending on the situation. And at the end of the day you can keep taking there phone and treating them like a kid if you want to that will not stop us from doing what we want

As parents we do need to do our best to listen to our teens. I know this can be hard sometimes as we can see the mistakes or wrong choices they want to make and we want to step in and stop them. Communication which goes both ways is vital in order to build a trusting relationship between parents and teens.

Maybe you have forgotten that we were also teens once. We do remember what we got up to and most of us parent the way we do because we don't want our children to come to harm.
Sorry, but I'm not going to be taking advice from a teen. You also have to remember that no everyone is the same, we have to adjust our parenting for each child. As an adult we know this and we also know the best way to get our children to respond to us.
