How would you 'convince' your kids to download a tracking app?

It's not like other apps but they get to set when I can see where they are. Of course I would be quite pissed off if they only limit the tracking to one hour. I just want to be sure my girl isn't wagging school or know where she is if she plans to come home late.

Ideas?

How old is your daughter?

There are families who all use tracking apps happily. Usually they claim it's easier to be able to look and see where somebody is then to have to text back and forth to make sure a kid got to their friend's house safely, to know if somebody is almost home so you can start putting supper on the table, etc. There is mutual benefit from the tracking. Your daughter is more likely to agree to the tracking app if it makes her life easier somehow.

But if your daughter has a problem with school attendance you should solve the real problem. Kids ditch school for reasons, and those reasons don't go away because you put a tracking app on their phone. It also doesn't take a genius to put their phone in their locker before they ditch school.

Do you pay for the phone? If so, the app shouldn't be questioned.

Tell her that the reason why you want her to download the app is because you want her to be safe

do you own the phone? there shouldn't be a question then as to what is on it and the rules for using it.
