I miss my 18 yr. old daughter

Ever since we bought our daughter a car for her 16th birthday, she has not needed me (I guess that I should have expected it!). My husband is gone for weeks at a time so I come home to an empty house. We do have three dogs! My problem is that I miss my daughter. She knows it, but at 18, her friends come first and so does she. She is a National Honor Student, belongs to the Honor Society, and has already been accepted to her college of choice with a scholarship. She even tells me when she is going to parties. She is our only child. I knew that this would happen. We even talked about it when she was about 13. She does nothing that I ask/tell her to do. Her room is a mess and her car is a garbage can. She doesn't understand why she has to be responsible for the little things. We battle, I yell, I get mad and sometimes mean, she yells and says that she thinks we need a break from each other, says I am asking too much, blah, blah, blah. I realize this is only my side but can someone give me suggestions on what to do? Or should I just be happy that we have a smart, beautiful 18 yr. old and wait for it to be over?

Did you ever set up rules for when she got the car for her birthday such as she is responsible for her room and certain chores? Did you not take away privileges like the car? Now she is 18 and legally an adult.
