Hello everyone, my question is if this is too much makeup for a 15 year old because mine is asking for this much. She has suddenly asked to wear lip gloss, eyeshadow, lipstick, brow powder, mascara, concealer, blush, bronzer, nail polish, highlighter and a billion other things i'm probably forgetting. She is asking for this eyshadow pallate ( http://www.inglotaustralia.com/Palettes-... ) which i think is a ridiculous amount of colors. I do not wear very much makeup so I am not sure where this is coming from and i don't know if all this is appropriate as she wants to wear makeup everywhere, any advice?

Because they are confronted with women wearing makeup everywhere. Plus, parents are allowing girls to put on makeup sooner than ever, and I am sure she sees that. I started wearing makeup at age 15. As a few other women said, the important thing is to wear it appropriately and take care of your skin when doing so. Wearing makeup later in life may feel like a chore, but in our teens it could be fun! There are much worse things she could instead be getting into. Take it easy........see it as your chance to show her how to do it right.

It may be hard for us to remember being that age, but they are bombarded with makeup ads, youtube videos on what makeup they should wear (and how to wear it), and catching up with other teenage girls at school. In an attempt to fit in with the crowd her age, she may stick out to adults. Im sure I have plenty of photos from my teenage years where I look back and say "what was I thinking wearing that??"

I wouldnt worry too much about it. Unless the added makeup will make her a target, isolate her, or becomes her sole identity, I wouldnt worry too much about it. Working with teenagers, I see students wearing all of those things, and feel like the earlier they begin using them, the better.

Dont stress, at least she isnt focused on more permanent things, such as tatoos, or showing her breasts and wearing close to nothing (which I also see a lot).

I say make a day of it, show her how to put it on, go to a salon maybe she will listen and teach a few teen girls how to do it right lol

I agree with Liz 100% Maybe she is trying to cover those disgusting pimples and the mark the might leave behind if she has acne. If that's the case maybe facial cleansing products can help her not want to wear so much make up. Just remind her she needs to wash her make up off before bed. It can do real damage to her face and age faster
