Makeup Guru Daughter

My daughter is 13 and is ADDICTED to makeup. She watches all kinds of videos and is always spending an hour putting on eyeliner, eye shadow, blush, lipstick, and mascara. I started allowing her to do it because she proved she was matured enough. But now every time we spend mother daughter time at the mall we are always going to stores that sell makeup. What should I do? It is partly my fault though because I love makeup and used to be addicted to it myself. I think she looks good both ways. Help

Well, here's the thing. You're the one allowing it, you're the one continuing to follow her to the make up sections in the stores, and you're the one who's not putting a stop to it, so it follows that, if you make a choice to do something about it, and follow through, then changes will occur.

In other words, you let her get started on it, if you don't like the way she's going about it or whatever, only you can make her quit. If you don't want to go shopping for make up every time you have a mother daughter day, then DON'T!

You're the mom; the parent. Where does she get the $ to buy the makeup? If it's from you, then you probably ought to tell her "no" when she wants to buy more. It's true, our kids so what they see us doing!
