I am having such a hard problem with my 9 year old son. He has a problem focusing in school and at home and he tends to lose focus quite often and it is hard for him to stay on task. He is a smart and polite boy but I am at the end of m rope and I don't know what I am going to do.

He does. He just may need a little more patience and that extra push from you. My 13 year old tests me every day. Sometimes all I can do is look at him like he is an alien and count to ten to keep from shaking him. I made a chore chart for him when he was 10 to keep him on track with his home responsibilities. He had to put check marks next to things on the chart he was responsible for, including his homework before he could do anything he wanted to do. That helped a lot and kept him focused and kept peace in the house. See if you can come up with ways to help him stay focused.

Thanks Lakota. I believe that too. I guess kids will be kids but he has to learn to get his priorities together also!

Hey, Kimberly. I have two boys - 16 and 13. They were both the same way at that age. My 13 year old is still that way. He has problems focusing on things he needs to be responsible for - school, house chores, etc. But, he has incredible focus on things he loves - vidoe games, friends, sports, etc. It comes with the age.
