I have had her drop out of school and start studying for her GED and work

K12 online public school is an option if she wants to get her high school diploma. A GED is not the same thing and will hold her back later.

I don't agree with a 16 YO being pregnant, either, but this OP needs to realize that once her daughter made that very adult decision to have sexual intercourse, the consequences became hers and her boyfriend's to deal with.

I'm actually GLAD in most cases that the young lady's parents have no legal standing, because in a lot of cases abortions would be forced upon these young ladies by parents who think that it's plain 'wrong' for a girl that age to be in that condition.

Please be supportive, not negative. If you feel that you cannot be supportive, then encourage her to find a family member or friend that will fill that need for her. Encouraging her to drop out of school wouldn't have been my method, either. Plenty of girls get pregnant, and still finish HS, sometimes shortly before they have the baby, or after. She should have been encouraged to stay in school, in my opinion. And, yes, of course work...she needs to start saving up for expenses.

But, ultimately, she needs your emotional support, not condemnation.

Wow. Ok, Regardless if right or wrong, she is having a baby. You can only do what you can do to raise your children, now you have to show her how to raise hers, and I hope that is with love. I was a pregnant 16 year old once, I am now a nearly 36 yr old mom of 4, married to the father of my children. My mother was not supportive of me at all, but she also pretty much stayed out of my life all together other than the occasional snarky comment. I agree that children should grow up get married then have children but it took me along time to understand why, when you're young and dumb you just don't get it. I would never want my daughters to get pregnant at 16 and I have had long talks with them as to why. I can't imagine being in your shoes, I am not sure why you posted on here other than to vent, but I wish you and your daughter the best.

Children having babies is not right and the fact that the parents have no say is totally wrong
