I decided to pull him because of dogwood and days missed counts he is a gifted young man acedemically he lives with his dad and they are putting him in a community program that only does one class at a time I think this is crazy he needs to be in a accelerated program not a developmental program his father is doing nothing and will not hear my concerns I think he has some mental health issues and I am scared he is being left too much in his head....

It is hard at 16. My son is also 16 and very intelligent so intelligent that he started skipping school due to boredom. So i looked at other solutions and decided to put him into a distant learning curriculum. No it is not ideal but he is completing all his courses one at a time in a speedy manner with honor role marks, I look at it as at least he is completing his grade 12 and if your son is doing the work to complete his grade 12 than that is good for him. I look at it as I would rather my son graduate doing one course at a time at home at his own pace than to skip school all the time and not graduate. If you feel your son needs counselling than speak him and his father and see how they feel about it. At 16 parents can not force there kids to do what they dont want to do ( as much as we would like to lol) hardest thing i found is letting my son make his own decisions and to just be supportive. It is sad because we only want whats best for our kids but unfortu nately they will do whats best for them and us as parents can only help guide and support them and yes let them make their mistakes, fall on their butts and help them pick up the pieces, Good luck

its been an month and he hasnt started I have just been told he is only doing english 11 this is insane!! he is not working which was one of my stipulations or getting a trade as well as a youth group and a counselor so I feel the breakdown is his father and not taking this seriously. we have joint custody and I just am not sure how to save my son...
