I have had talks with my 13 year old daughter about changes she will see and her how she will be growing up. I think all of it just went out the window! She is literally in her room crying her eyes out because she hates them so much. She says they make her uncomfortable. I tell her this is the way god made ou and you have to accept it and she asked if she could take diet pills!! I dont know what to do. My mom passed away a couple of months ago and she was my go to person for everything...is this just a phase? Do i need to be more concerned about the situation? I have done and said everything i can think of to console her. please help??!!

I'll try.

Ask your daughter to look around. Ask her to imagine how all her teachers, her adult family have come to look and act as they do. Ask her to imagine if they could undo all that growing up and what would we look like? And, what would we legally be able to do (at 13 or so). Promise your daughter that she is not unique in what she is experiencing. I remember hating puberty changes too. Can you go the library and find some books that may help her understand that she is not the only one suffering, and books that explain more about the changes she has experienced, and those she will experience. She's transitioning from being a young child and that can be scary. Book store has a lot of great books, written for adolescents, addressing these changes too. Also, ask her if new clothing of a different style from what she has might be meaningful. Uncomfortable, you need to figure out if you have suggestions/solutions that may reduce 'uncomfortable' for her.

There are some kids that fail to grow, now that is something (for a parent) to cry about.
