My teenage son is very active and popular in school, however I need to help him focus in his future goal settings and enhance his motivation and organizing skills. He also expresses to me he has trouble focusing in school. How can I help him with these issues. I really do not feel he needs pyschiatry or medication for this issue of focusing but I am open to suggestions.

Looking for ways to create motivation, perhaps hobbies, and work on focusing and organization skills for my son. Maybe there could be some creative suggestions about how I can help my son with these areas. I feel this could only but be beneficial for his personal growth and maturity. Thank you for any suggestions.

How old is he? Disorganisation is very much a typical part of being a teenage boy. Testosterone really screws with their brains, and for a couple of years there, you literally have to be their brain for them. It is frustrating, but they do come out the other end of it eventually.

if he's expressing trouble with focusing during school, you do need to have him checked out with a physician. There could be many causes of that.

however, if he's very active in school, I wouldn't think that motivation or hobbies are needed. Organizational skills are nice, but most teens (unless a 'type A' personality) have poor organizational skills, which improve as they get older.
