Should I allow my 14 year old daughter to wear crop tops?

Hi, we were out shopping today and my daughter asked me if she could buy these cropped tops which she liked. I said yes at the time but now when I see them at home it seems a bit too revealing. Her school doesn't have a dress code so she wears them to school.
What are your thoughts and opinions on teenagers wearing cropped tops?
Thanks

I wouldn't allow it for school. It doesn't matter if the school doesn't have a dress code, common sense should tell you that they aren't acceptable for school.

She should still be allowed to wear them outside of school and not just for exercise.

What problems in the future. She's fricking 14 now and in 4 years she will be an adult. She chooses what she wears especially now that shes 14.

I agree Ev , Fas is wrong. Allowing our children to choose what to wear now may creat serious problems in the future.

Ms. Klein,
What I write is not "crap".
I am merely stating another opinion / point of view.
You do not agree obviously but there was no need for you to make that comment hence I told you to **** off. Kind regards.

I'm not saying she shouldn't be allowed to, just that it's inappropriate.
I work in retail and see many different styles. Some things should be kept as underwear. I don't mind a crop top under a baggy tank top with big armholes or under an open shirt but on it's own shouldn't be everyday wear.
Just because the Mannies get dressed in just a crop and undies, doesn't mean that everyone should be wearing just that out in public.

Just because girls wear these things, doesn't mean they are appropriate.
Girls don't need to be flaunting everything in public and it's not body shaming, it's just dressing appropriately. Different setting allow different clothing, at the beach a bikini is fine but not when you go grocery shopping.
The same with crop tops, during exercise or at home then it's fine but not at school.

And Ev please become a modern parent, this is the 21st century where girls wear shorts, croptops, tank tops.

4 years is a long time. She isn't an adult and it's still the parents role to enforce their rules.
My daughter only wears her crop tops for dance, there is no way she would be wearing it to school even if they were allowed.
Maybe the school should bring in a dress code as I feel that crop tops are inappropriate for school. School is a place for learning, it's not a fashion show.

She will be an adult in 4 years. Her parents should allow her to wear what she wants

Ok Ev but her daughter WANTS to wear crop tops. She should be allowed to at the age of 14.

I don't care what the policy was in your school. In her school there is no policy.
I don't want to know what your daughter wore and didn't like to wear.
Her daughter wants to wear them, that is her style of clothing, she isn't breaking any rules or laws so yes of cource she should be allowed. And like Andrew, it's good she feels comfortable to wear them and has that self confidence which your daughter didn't have.

Thank you Andrew, finally somrone sane commented! I completely agree Andrew.
And Sarah, I bet you don't even allow your children to wear shorts!
Many 14 year olds wear crop tops, in fact they are in trend now.
Why can she not wear them to school if there is not a dress code?

I agree with Sarah E , our styke of dressing should be modest. At home let her wear what she likes , but outside she should be modest enough. We mothers have the responsibility of telling then whats right and whats wrong , so Fas , we should teach them to be modest . Let them wear what they like but dont allow them to expose their body, girls should dress modestly and also wear appropriate inner wears too.

Why are we even discussing this. It's just 2 - 4 centimetres of her stomach. Yes she has a stomach!!!
Just let her wear it.

Yes, if she doesn't want to wear a bra then she doesn't.
You didn't answer my question Ms. Edward, what problems in the future?

Of course not. Don't take my comments and exaggerate. But if there is no dress code she can wear crop tops, tank tops, off the shoulder...

So JS, definitely allow her to wear cropped tops, anytime.
They are awesome and comfortable according to my daughter.

Crop tops and hoodies are totally appropriate for school.
That's why there isn't a damn dress code.

If the school doesn't have a dress code then she can wear whatever she wants. Stop body shaming girls.

Ev,
These clothes are not revealing. They show 2-3 cm of your stomach. What a surpise!
Her daughter is not a child. She is 14 years old.
Most teenagers like to and wear these clothes including my daughter.
This has no connection to saying no to something.

Hi JS,

I have a 13 year old daughter too and I allow her to wear whatever she wants to school or outside. Usually cropped tops are her favourite and she wears them every day because she either knots a tshirt or cuts and even in winter they are quite comfortable indoors.
I would allow her to wear cropped tops.
