Teenage girl ignores me when we are at her school. But not at home.

I am new to this website. I have a 14 year old. She is very popular at school and has a large group of friends.

At home, she is very kind and responds to all of my questions and request. But when we are in her school setting, she ignores me, and acts like she doesn't know me. If I try to give her a hug or take photos during big school events, she shy's away, gets angry or tries to get away. Is this something that is totally normal?

I remember being embarrassed by my parents as a teen. But I don't remember being disrespectful because of it.

It is normal. She shouldn't be disrespectful though. Take the pictures, but, give her the space she wants at school. My boys are the same way. Just respect her space and her need to distance herself from you in front of her friends. It is a teenage thing.
