Teens and their friends smoking?

We all know how bad smoking is but once your teen picks up that nasty habit do you allow them and their friends to smoke at your house? My daugher and a couple friends were talking about how only a couple of their parents allow smoking at home.

I just checked, and your kids are 15 and 13. So definitely have a conversation with her about the smoking being bad for her health and that you do't approve of it at all. I also wouldn't be allowing her to go to those homes where they are permitted to smoke, and I'd question where they are getting the cigarettes from. You could also contact the school and reach out to them - they will often have a school nurse or someone similar that can have those conversations with the girls - as an example the nurse at the school I teach at has a group of girls who smoke or are at risk of taking it up that she holds regular sessions for.

Um....no way! Your house, your rules. Do you really want the smell of smoke in your house. I don't know how old your teen is, but I'd be putting a stop to the smoking as much as I could. Where I live, she can't even legally purchase cigarettes, so where is she getting them from? I'd be asking that question. But smoke in my house and you you lose all your privileges.

Yeah, no chance in my house. My older kids each picked it up, but until they were adults, that was a big no. My youngest can't stand the smell of cigarette or pot, so fingers crossed he will not. On an aside note, both of my older kids have since quit smoking. Bah! Those rebellious teen years.
