My 16 year old son is in the hospital recovering from gunshot wounds after. What the police are thinking was a gang imitation because he and his girlfriend were walking out from a movie and they two boys gunned him down. Well anyways he is still in the ICU And his father and I are divorced and he is blaming me for our son getting shot and all of this other bullshit and just ugh. Well I was thinking and I don’t know what I should take him and on top of it when he comes home he is going to need help with things and I can’t be home since I am working and I just feel helpless I don’t know what to do if I would of lost my kid. Also worried about the pain killers they are going to have him on because I know they will need to be strong is there anyways I can tell them not to give him narcotics so there isn’t a risk of him getting addicted?

First of all, if you want to take someone something in the hospital, you take them something you think they will enjoy, without it being a burden to lug out later.

Next, when your son comes home, it is likely that you may need to take some time off work to help care for him. That is, unless you think his dad will be willing to do that.

And of course you can discuss your concern about opiods or narcotics being prescribed for your son with his physician. As a matter of fact, I recommend that you do so sooner rather than later so that they can get him on one that isn't opiod or narcotic now.
