I'm 17. When I was waking up this morning, I heard something breathing heavily, thought it was my dog so I didn't think anything of it. I open my eyes a bit to see my 12 year old brother standing beside my bed masturbating while watching me... he tucked his penis under the waistband of his pajamas and then said "hi" as if he wasn't doing anything wrong. I shut my eyes quickly and pretended to go back to sleep... what should I do about this situation? Is it normal? To be honest, I'm pretty freaked out by it...

To be quite Honest, To have your brother masturbate in another room or in privacy is different than standing above you watching you while he does it. I would just briefly ask him to do that in the privacy of his own space next time...and if that doesn't work, let him know that you will be speaking to mom and dad about it so they can handle the situation. You are his sister and not h is parent, and if he cant understand in a nice way, than you hand it over to your parents. I am sure he will want to save himself the embarrassment of having mom and dad talk to him.

Social worker? The POLICE?! hahahaha Come down off the ledge. It's only a boy masturbating. Inappropriately. It's been 2 years, so I'm sure it all worked itself out by now, hopefully. I'm seriously laughing right now. I can imagine that phone call.

Once you are both awake and dressed tell him that is unacceptable and if it happens again you will tell your mother.

Just do it with him naked together, he is curious about seeing another boys body. Maybe if you guys shower naked together and masturbate he will feel comfortable doing it alone , be his role model

Norma, ANY young lady would be upset at having her brother blatantly jacking off right next to her. That is not a 'hang up', that is a NORMAL response to inappropriate behaviour by her brother.

Yes, masturbation, the act, is not unnatural, nor is it evil, but when your BROTHER is masturbating whist watching you sleep in YOUR ROOM, which is your private space, THERE IS A PROBLEM.

In this situation, I would tell brother that his behaviour is not acceptable, nor welcome, and leave it at that. Should it occur again, she needs to bring the parents into the discussion so that they can cover the points that they left out, such as keeping your anatomy to yourself and not masturbating in your sister's room.

considering if you are a girl,i can understand you being freaked out There has to be a reason that he wishes to do this near you...Sounds like the boy is full of anxiety, shame and guilt.. his natural feelings are probably stiffled and he feels that he is not accepted as a free individual.anxiety if he were assured by his parents that he was loved and accepted......he also may meed professional therapy.

allegra, at 12, almost anything will turn a boy on. he is probably always turned on. my son is 15 now, but he was 12 too, and so was i.
perhaps you need to establish the boundary between what is ok to do with your sister, and what is not. ask him what he is doing, and why, but discuss it rather than embarras him. explain that his behavior is not for others in his family to have to be a part of, and tell him that its ok to do it all day if he wants, in private.
hes just learning how to deal with hormones, so dont be freaked out. be honest however and respect him, and if he acts like he isnt doing something wrong, its probably because he doesnt know that is wrong yet.

Tell your brother that he's not welcome in your room, and that he needs to keep his penis to himself.

Don't make a big deal of it, just tell him that you will not allow the behaviour. Then, lock your door.

with little brothers nothing is normal, but you shouldn't dismiss it just sit down and talk with him, he probably didn't know what he was wrong
