Moms Over 40

I am so glad that I found this community! After raising 3 children, I now find myself with the task of raising my twin grandsons who are now 7 years old. They have been with me since the day they were born! At times I feel as though I will never be able to live up to their expectations as a parent, you know , the running, playing ball, shooting basketball (especially as they get older) but I am finding, that to them thosse things are not as important as the quality time that we spend togethor as a family. Things like sitting down to play a simple board game, or maybe engaging in a time consuming art project, which by the way, they are both extremely "into" art. As I pray on a daily basis for God to give me the strenght and the courage that I need to make sure these young men grow up to be healthy, respectable, well educated young men with manners, and a knowing of how to be curteous, and be respectable to women, I think my biggest fear is failing them in some area of their lives. It truly amazes me how my views of parenting have changed over the years from when my own children were growing up, I think my husband and i were more concerned with working and paying the bills and making ends meet than we were truly worried about "family time". Now I realize how very crucial this is to young children expecially now a days!!Anyways, thanks for letting me share, and I am PROUD to be a parent over 40!!

It is totally different now we just spent 2 weeks with our granddaughter and that was what she complained about the most and she is nine. We would love to get custody of her. Her mom does not get her up for school so if she doesn't hear her alarm then she is late or she does'nt go at all. We are afraid that she will fail this year. We live in Missouri and she lives in Kansas. How did you get custody of yours. We can't even get information from the school because she won't list us. My granddaughter complains that mom son't do anything but sleep. Any info would be greatly helpful.
