This thread is for discussing all your difficulties in the process of quitting, the trials and temptations you're faced with every day, and any unpleasant or unwanted side effects of both quitting and chemical assistance (Gum, Patch, PIlls, etc).

well im actually managing to quit quiet easily really, i know all u ladies out there dont like hearing it, i didnt when i have tried to quit many times before and found it such a struggle.. but using the patches is great i don't crave cigs and have concurred the habit of having something in my hands. the only down side to using patches is the god dam marks it leaves on me skin.. red and a bit irritating. but hey at least im getting my sense of taste and smell back. not good when u suddenly realize just how bad the nappies smell. lmao
Good luck to everyone that is trying, you will succeed.

Hi,

I've been cutting down my smoking by having my first smoke later every day. I've can last till about 12pm, but today i caved in. I had my first one at 9:30am. I really dont understand why i'm battling with this. I've heard a few ladies say that they dont even enjoy it. Well, i wish i felt that way. I do enjoy it. Thats half my problem. I find that when i crave i go into auto pilot. I'll drive to the shop, buy smokes, then fully enjoy the smoke. It's only afterwards that i feel so bad and stupid for giving in again. I know i'm just rambling. I just thought that i'd share my feelings and maybe someone can come up with some ideas for me. I hate this feeling that something is controlling my behaviour. So, your input would be great. :-) thanks.

Quoting Megan:

i'm having a hard time quitting, mostly in sticking with it. i don't even crave cigarettes anymore and i usually can't finish them when i light one, but i think i smoke out of boredom, and i am bored a lot!

i think the combination of trying to quit and my antidepresent are also turning me into an insomniac. i haven't been able to get myself to sleep before 3-4am the last week, and have stayed up til 5-6 a few times :( it's starting to turn into a problem.

unfortunatly that is the side effect of anitdepressants it even says it may cause you not to sleep in the side effect page of what  you get  form that little booklet in  the meds that you get fromt he pharmasy ..... i have been like that for along wile so i have just sadly goten used to not sleeping very much ..... as for bordum well i am not sure what you enjoy to do but ry finding something that you like and do it  insted of smoken thats how i am slowly cutting down maybe it will help with your bordum as well  good luck and best wishes

I'm also battling to sleep at night. I ussually get to sleep about 5 hours a night. I suppose its not as bad as yours, but i feel your pain. I hope it doesn't get worse. Apparently insomia is common in pregnancy. Try reading, that ussually makes me sleepy. :-)
