I have 1 week to go and I am so excited but so nervous too. I keep hoping everyday i wake up i hope she comes today but then i think no wait i hope she doesn't come for another week because i am so scared about the pain of labour. I wish i was in labour right now so i knew what to expect but on the other hand i wish i had months left to go too. Help me!

Like the other moms said - don't kid yourself, labor is supposed to be work, and that's why it's called labor! But the end product of said work will bring you more joy than you can possibly imagine.

My labor experience seems somewhat like remembering a dream now (and it didn't help that it was 5 am). I do remember turning to my mother-in-law and saying, "How did you do this five times??" (I did a natural birth, as she had w/all her children.) She kind of smiled and said, "You forget the pain after a while." And it's strangely true!

Try not to worry too much, knowing that millions of women give birth everyday.

Also, keep us updated!!! :)

I am having my 2nd child and there is a lot I do not remember from the 1st. I think there is a reason for that so that women will keep having children. You get so caught up in the moment and everything just happens. They say labor with your 2nd child comes fast than the 1st and my 1st was 6 hours total but they also say every delivery is different. Hang in there and you will do great!

hi there, goodluck for youre big day.

I had to be induced at 40 weeks plus two days, my husband is in the army and he goes away reguarly so we did it all so he could meet bubs before he was posted to another state. My contractions were quite sudden. And the birth was 12 hours long, I took the epidural, and found it great. But everybodies pain threshold is different. labour only goes on for so long and youre rewarded at the end of it. So no matter what happens, as long as youre bubs is safe at the end. thats the main thing.... All the best

I have two children and both labors were completly different. Just know that it will pass. Also if you chose to take an epidural ask for it BEFORE you are in pain to the piont you cant stand it. sometimes it takes a while for the pain doctor(cant spell his title) to get there. Also, bring something to focus on or pick something. I just focus on a picture and it really helped. and it will happen when you dont expect it. #1 i just had an apptiontment and they kept me to induce and # 2 i at a family reunion when i started my labor pains....2 weeks early! keep yourself busy doing something else it wil take you mind off the wait.

Amie is right stay focused and the pain is worth it. Dont forget to breath and try your best to relax listen to music. I had my husband and the nurse rub my arms gently to comfort me. You wont be hungry. So be sure to eat a snack and drink something at the first signs of labor. You may go hours without food. The hospital wont let you eat anything.

Well personally I thought labor was a wonderful experience, but then again I don't remember feeling contractions and had an epidural so I didn't feel the pain of the actual birth. I felt EXACTLY like you. I wanted it to just be over, but I didn't think I was fully prepared for it all to happen. It'll all be fine soon enough.

Lamaze is just a class that prepares you for labor, the hospital should have classes for it. You may even be able to tour the hospital. I had just laid down at midnight on Easter and my water broke! I recommend taking a class or watching a video that shows labor and breathing techniques. Having a coach helps too. My husband wouldnt watch the video, but I told him what to do and he got me through it. Oh and nothing will go how you intend it to go. I wanted just my husband i the room before labor and during I asked for both our moms. I wanted a mom in the room just to comfort me.

Labor is a painful experience and anxiety is normal in the end of a pregnancy. But believe me when you hold that little baby in your arms the pain you just went through to bring her into this world is going to be the last thing on your mind. I had a hard labor, 26 hours with contractions 10 minutes apart. But it was all worth it and I would do it agian in a heart beat. You will do just fine, just stay focused.

Anxiety is normal. I was so excited and nervous my last month and prayed to go into labor. When it comes you wont expect it, at least I didn't and that day I thought to myself I am going to be overdue and they are going to have to induce me. Labor is painful. Have you had a lamaze class? I didn't take one, but watched a video that I borrowed from the library. I had trouble breathing during labor and the video, plus some meds helped me.
