A friend of mine told me her 10 month old girl is 31.5 inches, although she was born shorter than my son, but now she's the same height, even though my son is 15 months old. According to the height chart, she'd be above the 100th percentile, which would make her the tallest 10 month girl ever. She'd actually be the same height as the average 18 month old girl.

Are there any other ladies who has very tall daughters? Or has the doctor measured her wrong? Hahahaha

PS...I actually haven't seen her little girl since she was 3 months old.

I don't know if this helps any but my now four year old son was 29 inches and 21 pounds at 10 months and he was 22in and 8lbs 3 oz at birth.....my now 11 month old girl is 31 inches and 23 pounds and she was only 6lbs 3 oz and 18.5 inches at birth.......all babies grow differently and just because they are way above the 99th percentile does not make them the tallest there is.....its just out of a random picking of 100 kids.

My daughter has always been big for her age. She just turned 2 in october but is in 3-4t clothes. She's in the 97th percentile for her age and is about the same size as the avg 3 yr old. She's always been ahead in clothes size due to her length/height.

I just looked it up, my daughter was 29 inches at the beginning of 10 months.

She was born 8lbs 7oz and 20.5in long

My daughter is 32 inches at 12 months... I think that girls generally grow faster than boys until puberty... Neither me or my boyfriend are very tall (5'7 and 5'8) but I think eventually they even out.

My son was 29.5 inches at 9 months. I'm not sure what he's at now (we'll find out in a few weeks at his next appointment), but I'm sure it's somewhere around 30-31 inches. I'm not sure if he'll end up being tall or not; both I and my husband are pretty short.

My daughter was 20 inches when she was 10 months, but she was also very premature. 31.5 inches does seem a little tall but not impossible.

Sarh,
Im in Tennessee and we do not have a childrens place in our mall in Clarksville however we do have one not that far away in nashville. I've never looked there previously; but i will take a look next time, thanks! I usually buy from Justice because my daughter absolutely loves that store! She can wear skinny jeans from their or Gap in a size 6 slim. If she wears regualr jeans wether they be flare, boot cut, or straight then she has to have a 7 slim or there high waters lol!! She has a big foot too; she wears a size 2 in shoes and all the people her same age on her cheer team are like 11 and 12s! I just cant figure out where the growth comes from I only wear a 4.5 in kids in shoes!! So hopefully it will get easier for the both of us!

Kristen, it is very hard shopping for a little girl that size, my daughter is as well roughly the same size at that age. Jada was also constantly eating and eating more then me often until she was about 4-4.5yrs old. She has slowed down on her eating a lot. I have a hard time finding appropriate clothes for her in her size, especially in summer. I hate putting booty shorts and mini skirts on her, I don't find them age appropriate for the size and it really doesn't help that she is so much younger then the girls the clothes are made for. Jada as well is not fat, tall and skinny. I am also 5'6" and her father is 5'9" so neither of us are all that tall either, but my mom is 5'11" and her father is... I believe like 6'7" or something insanely tall like that. Do you have a store called The Children's Place (also known as Children's Palace)? I find that most of their clothes are very decent, inexpensive, and worth the money. :)

my five year old daughter turns 6 in february; is 3ft 10in and 48 pounds, she is not fat at all, however she cheers and is like a whole 5 inches taller then the tallest person on her team and i dont get it!! she is normal i thought, but she is a 4in the waist but a 7 in girls as far as the legth it is crazy to find clothes to fit her!! however i wish her growth spurt would stop since she cheers competitively and wants to be a flyer (the one they throw in the air)!! im 5'6 and her dad 5'8 so neither one of us are tall; (( pics are on my page of her))

That would be tall if she was born at 18 inches, but who knows! My son was above the "chart" - above 100 %tile - for height and weight from about 6 months to 18 months. But he was born 9 lbs. 7 oz. and 21.5 inches long, so I thought he just had a head start :) Boys are different, of course, but anyway he was 31 inches at 10 months. He's 3 years 8 months now and 42 lbs, 42 inches. We are NOT tall - both 5' 6".

He was also exclusively breast fed, and people say formula fed babies are often bigger, so go figure - they definitely come in all shapes and sizes :)

Cara, WIC also tried telling my my now 5yr old is and was obese! I as well laughed in their faces! WIC really needs to become better educated and hire better people! I thought it was just my local WIC office.

My daughter is now 3ft tall and 35lbs at 26 months old. Her dr said she is definitely gonna be a tall girl in her class. lol WIC tried to tell me she is obese, i laughed at them because they just went by her age and weight..not her height.

Hi Cara - my son was also born at 20.5 inches. But alot lighter at 6.1 lbs. He has always been on the 97th percentile as he gained alot of weight very quickly, he was measured at 29 inches at 10 months. Since then he really slowed down and now he's in the 90th percentile. I'm expecting another growth spurt sometime soon hopefully.

Kyla - 28 inches for a 7 month old is tall. I had a look on the CDC Growth Chart and she's exactly on the 97th percentile (The very top line). It's atleast still on the graph, 31.5 inches at 10 months is far above the 97th percentile, there is no line on the graph that goes that high. According to the chart, if your daughter stays at the 97th percentile she'll be 29.9 inches at 10 months. But this girl is 1.2 inches taller than yours. Weird thing is, her daughter was only born 18.1 inches, my son was born at 20.5 inches. Maybe she's gone through some hectic growth spurt - it means she's grown 13.4 inches in 10 months. Babies usually grow in length by about an inch a month during the first six months, and around one-half inch a month from six months to one year. You can do the math but it means she's grown double the amount the average child does.

Well, I am seeing her tomorrow so I'll keep you informed. I'm dying to see a 10 month old as tall as my 15 month old son hahahaha. I will pass out if it's true haahahahaha.

my daugther is just 7 months and I had her mesuraed this last week at the doctors and shes 28 inches long so, so i dont see why her friends daugther couldn't be as tall as she is saying she is. At 6 months my daugther was pertty mcuh off the chart for her height and age

Kathryn, is this the first time your son has measured off the charts?! I've never doubted my daughter's pediatrician's measuring, but then again she has always been in the 95th percentile to off of the chart for both height and weight! I LOVE big babies, but it always affects the safety while in the car as they out grown the car seats too quick!

my first guess would be that she was measured wrong but anything can happen. My son was measured to be 42 inches and he JUST turned 3 which is off the chart i had them Remeasure him and it was right (i even did it at home). Even for a 4 year old that height is in the 90th% but a little shorter than the average 5 year old.
