my 13mo old son has been doing really well without bottles. its almost been a month since he stopped drinking from them. he is also on cows milk and no longer drinks formula. I don't understand why he wont take milk from his cup because he'll drink water and juice from it with no problem! i've tried heating it, having it cold, watering it down, and i've even tried making it chocolate but he won't drink it. he'll take a drink from the cup and then spit out all the milk he has in his mouth. any ideas on how to fix this? Has your child or a child you know done this? any input is greatly appreciated thank you!

What type of sippy's do you use? I first tried by using the thin tipped ones, but he didn't care for them. Then I switched to the soft lipped ones, by Munchkin and Nuby, and had instant success! They are at Walmart or Jewel (and many places I'm sure!) for $2! Each child is different though! Good luck!

My daughter refused to drink out of a sippy cup for the longest time! And to make it worse I had to have my dad watch her so I could work. Anytime I would try to give her a sippy cup and she would cry not 5 seconds and my dad would take it away and give her a bottle. It made me soo mad. So she wasnt drinking out of a sippy cup until she was like 20 months old or something like that. A friend of mine told me to just give her the sippy cup and not the bottle and she will eventually drink out of it and that she wont dehydrate that is what I did and it finally worked. But it sounds like your son is having no problem with it and it's just milk that he wont drink out of it. I guess just keep giving it to him until he gets used to it. Just make sure to not give him a bottle. Just keep at it and he will get it eventually. Good luck.

my son would't drink out of a cup (milk) either. i gave him a toddler straw cup (leak proof) and he took to it in seconds. now, four months later, i switched his drinks around so that his water is in the straw and his milk is in the cups and he's fine with it now

My daughter had this same issue. Until she saw my husband drinking milk with a straw (out of one of those smaller cartons). Tada! she'll drink milk! whether it's a cup (she has small ones), sippy or from a carton with a straw.

I think the issue it associating milk with bottles while sippys are water/juice. Try another method or a different style of sippy, maybe one that has a silicone nipple attached?

My younger son was bottle fed for the most part and I noticed he had trouble wanting to drink milk from his sippy cup for a while. He was harder to train to do it compared to my older son. I think it is because they drank milk in a bottle for so long that they associate milk that way, that it should be in a bottle. So, that is how he wants it. Just be persistant with putting milk in his sippy cup and he will get use to it eventually.
