Why all of a sudden would my 15 month old son be afraid to death of baths? I just start running water and he runs screaming in the other direction. He used to love baths! Even if the bath water isn't for him he freaks out. If you even ask if he wants a bath he cries...What happened?

it could be that he is going through a stage of being scared of water i did when i was young and it still happens now ( im 24) i remember getting ready for school and i was so scared of washing my face that i would wet the corner of a towel and have a wash like that at times like that i wouldnt even brush my teeth

I don't think my daughter ever disliked baths, so I don't think it's something all children do. My son started disliking them because his father is not careful enough to keep water off his face when he shampoos his hair. Once he gave him a bath where he didn't get the water on his face, he was begging for them. Showers were scary for my daughter at first so that may or may not work. New toys are a good idea. I would insist that he take his baths. Eventually he will get over it. If you give in to his demands to get out, he'll get spoiled and never learn they are safe and fun. This will pass probably sooner than you think.

I wish we had a shower that didn't have the tub underneath it. That would probably help alot. And since he's only one last summer we didn't have much of a chance to take him swimming or anything. I haven't tried a shower with him lately but I'll give it a try

I think all kids do this. Try a shower, my daughter hates baths, loves to swim and loves the shower. You may have to get in with him the first few times. And I dont know if your able but we have a seperate shower in our master bath that is stand alone no bath tub. My son still freaks out if he sees a piece of hair in the bottom of the shower. They eventaully get over it.

Both me and his dad have tried taking a bath with him. Completely in the water and everything! He wants nothing to do with us and just tries to crawl out. He has 1 minute baths...long enough for us to get the food or whatever else he has all over him off. I'll have to try the new bath toys....the ones has are getting old....Thanks for the advice!

Maybe try taking a bath with him. Sounds weird, but even just putting him in and setting your feet in with him while he's in the tub might give him comfort that your close. After a few bath like this move to outside of the tube area and sit with him until he's comfortable again! Maybe buy some new bath toys to get him back into liking bath time! Hope this helps:)

Thank you. We've been giving him bubble baths because he used to like them. Maybe he started being afraid of them? I'll have to try a normal bath tonight. I have no idea what happened to him. Nothing has never happened to him in the tub...unless something happened at daycare that I am unaware of but he seems to love daycare....Thanks for the help. (And I've been thinking about water babies for him) :)

My son was the same way! He loved them one month then the next he wanted nothing to do with it! The only thing I can think of is he had a dream or a nightmare about water or he has seen a show or movie that has water and scared him. What i did with my son was let him have his favorite toy when he gets in the bath tub and try to make it fun as possible. I had to put my feet in the water with my son until he got used to it. My son hated bubbles too! Very afraid of them. But just do it lil by lil and eventually he will get used to it. Also if u can try to sign up for some swim lessons. Just u and him. It will also help too. Good luck!
